Someone once said that going to church does not make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a car. There is definitely some truth in that.
Being a Christian is about belief, and you can be a Christian without ever entering a church, just pick up a Bible, read and believe what Jesus did for you, and you will become a Christian.
So does that mean church is unnecessary? No, church is God's family coming together to worship Him, to learn about Him, and to enjoy felowship with one another.
Imagine being part of a family, but never seeing your parents, your brothers and sisters, your cousins, or anyone else who were related to. You would still be related, you would still share the same heritage, but not spending time with them is far from the ideal.
Church is about meeting together with other Christians and being a support to one another. It is far more than a social club - it is a family, a gathering of all God's children, who are journeying together along the path of faith.
And as well as that the church is open to all people, including those who haven't yet become a Christian. God's love is for all people, and so the church is a place for everyone, including all those who want to come and discover just what it means to be a Christian.
